Hurricane Harvey left one-third of Houston flooded, damaging embankments and causing soil erosion in local waterways. Creeks and reservoirs could not hold their intended amount of water, and the risk of flooding down the road increased.
Both banks of Buffalo Bayou were eroded toward the middle and heavily silted, meaning material had to be dreaded and transported to an approved disposal site. Texas Dewatering, the company in charge of this endeavor, was only given 150 days to complete the entire job–rain or shine.
Our amphibious excavators fit the bill for Texas Dewatering’s needs perfectly, starting with quick deployment of our fully assembled excavators via low-bed trailers.
Once on site, multiple excavators worked alongside one another freely without fear of sinking or getting stuck in the soft riverbed. They quickly dredged the riverbed to the desired depth, placing removed silt on the bank for drying before transportation to the disposal site. Despite a week-long pause in work due to Hurricane Imelda, the project still finished ahead of schedule.
