In this project we excavated and and hauled off the silt that had been deposited in Buffalo Bayou during Hurricane Harvey. The silt deposits reduced the capacity of the bayou and contributed to the flooding of the surrounding neighborhoods. To accomplish this project given the width of the bayou and the requirement not to reduce the normal flow of water we relied on EIK amphibious excavators to crawl into the bottom of the channel and pass the material up on to the bank where it could be dewatered and hauled off. The increased efficiency of working in the water without the need for wooden mats was key to the success of the project.
